The Old Smithy Presents - Ezmay Grace

Ezmay Grace.jpg

Ezmay Grace will play the Loft Thurs 15th under the Old Smithy Presents banner. This incredible singer/ songwriter is sure to draw a strong crowd for our first Loft gig. Ezmay has a spell-binding voice and accompanies herself on guitar and Tibetan singing bowl.

She is a BBC Introducing artist and is frequently featured on BBC Radio Cornwall's BBC Introducing show. She has also had the opportunity to play on stage at festivals across the South West such as Tunes on the Dunes, The Little Orchard Cider Festival, The Great Estate Festival and Boardmasters Festival.

Her debut EP "The Sailor's Mistress" was released in March 2017 and tells the tale of a Cornish sailor, his love and his mistress in a traditional folk style. We hope to confirm a very exciting follow up gig to Ezmay’s performance later in the month...

PS - We know there are many musically talented young people in the area and would like them to be included where appropriate. Older children/ those able to appreciate and enjoy music in a concert atmosphere are most welcome to come along if families wish it.

Smithy Fest '18

OK Smithy fans - the moment has arrived!!! After many months of planning and preparation Smithy Fest '18 our huge Music, Ale and Cider Festival is almost upon us. So in the middle of July (Sat 14th and Sun 15th) come to our dream Devon Pub, the beautiful Old Smithy Inn EX39 6HG, and for far less than the price of a cinema ticket you will be treated to seven wonderful live bands and 2/3 DJs per day in our glorious beer garden from 12 noon until late. The Smithy has built an extended community (local, national and international) around it over the years and this is a community event - the pricing of entrance is designed purely to allay the set up costs of organising the festival (the biggest by far of course being the cost of the amazing musicians and sound engineers this will make the occasion such a special one - a ticket on entry shows that we value their artistry and makes towards sustainable employment for musicians in the region, a cause close to the Smithy's heart).

The beer tent will have 24 real ales & ciders, plus scrummy food (as always!) will be served and Smithy Fest '18 tee-shirts will be available on the day.

Watch out for our extensive advertising campaign in the local print media, online and through posters and flyers all around the region. We have also applied for a local radio spot to promote the festival. Through Facebook over the coming weeks we will be releasing information on our varied and amazing musical line-up with links to online content in many cases so you can familiarise yourself and enjoy the event even more.

Please note children go free and we have designed the days so early acts are family friendly regarding noise levels etc - we are super dog-friendly but many pooches may not like such a full-on environment! Also parking as you may know can be tight so please car pool where possible and make safe arrangements for staying over or travelling home.

On entrance to the site festival goers can purchase their colour-coded Smithy Fest wristbands for individual days (£4.50) or grab a bargain weekender (£6). Learning lessons from previous years we will also seek to have beer tent tokens available at the entrance to cut down on queuing at the bar. There will be a special Smithy Fest menu running on these days.

We can't wait to welcome you to the old place for the (best value) party of the Summer!!!
