The Old Smithy Inn Xmas Roundup!
A great Christmas season at the Smithy kicked off with our Christmas Quiz - with the house packed out on the 20th Dec! - followed by our Solstice gig with LAZY... rocking a very appreciative audience on the 21st.
It was lovely to see so many visitors from far and wide coming down to see us and new friends were certainly made! Our revamped Sunday Roasts have proved popular with great feedback from customers. We collected funds for locals Mick Gates and Chris Underwood who are attempting a coast to coast challenge later this year, raising money for a children’s cancer charity.
On Christmas Day our charity raffle to raise funds for this appeal saw Hannah from Koa Tree win our Christmas goodies hamper. The whole village came to see us for a couple of hours on Christmas Day itself, and we had a chance to show our appreciation for their unfailing support for us and the Smithy with a nice spread of Irish spiced beef, fresh soda bread and some Bucks Fizz!
New Years was another jolly occasion with DJ Neil Parkes playing an infectious set to take us into 2019. Big thanks to all who dressed up as disco kings and queens - the bar tab prize went to Chris Jenner for his “undercover ‘70’s disco cop” outfit (at least that’s how we saw it!!!) Anyone who wears a string vest on a Winter’s night deserves a prize... What a great night!
Many thanks to all our customers for their continued support throughout 2018. Onwards and upwards at the Smithy in 2019!!!🤓
